BROWNSNAKE Storeria dekayi (Holbrook, 1836) 

STATUS:  Uncommon

DOCUMENTED COUNTIES:  Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Hood, Johnson, Kaufman, Parker, Somervell, Tarrant, and Wise

HABITAT:  Trinity River Bottoms, Cedar-limestone Hills, Blackland Prairie, Western Cross Timbers

SUBSPECIES:  Texas Brownsnake (S. d. texana Trapido, 1944)

COMMENTS:  The Texas brownsnake is usually found under rocks and railroad ties around residences along streams, creeks, and rivers of the Metroplex.
